Booking
A booking is a binding order for advertising time on a screen network for specific sites, a period and a quantity.
It sets out what is to be played and at what price. Once the network operator or sales house confirms it, it becomes part of the slot allocation.
A booking typically contains the sites or device groups, start and end dates, the spot length, the frequency in the loop or a number of ad plays, and any preferred times of day. Bookings are made directly with the network operator, through a sales house or automatically through a platform. Delivery and review of the creatives follow the booking.
Operators should set clear rules for what happens in the event of outages: whether plays are made up later, credited or invoiced pro rata. Deadlines for delivering creatives and for cancellations matter just as much. A booking guarantees ad plays, not impressions, unless that has been expressly agreed.
