Campus signage
Campus signage refers to screens in schools, universities and educational institutions that inform students, staff and visitors about timetables, rooms and dates.
They hang in entrance halls, corridors, canteens and libraries. Many buildings often belong to one network.
Typical content includes cover timetables, room changes, canteen menus, events, exam dates and notices from the administration. At universities, signposting for first-year students and guests is added, and lecture hall doors show current bookings. In an emergency, all screens must be able to show a warning quickly.
Educational institutions have many editors: school management, departments, student representatives, catering. Clear permissions on who may publish what and where prevent confusion. Data protection plays a part, for example with teachers' names or photos of pupils. Content should come automatically from existing systems, such as the timetable or room management, so that nobody maintains it twice. For schools and universities, switching screens off during holidays and at night is also worthwhile.
