Room booking
Room booking is the reservation of meeting rooms, seminar rooms or other shared spaces through a system, usually the organisation's calendar.
Each room has its own schedule there, into which bookings are entered.
Screens show the bookings in two places: as a display next to the door that names the current and next booking, and as an overview in the foyer or on the floor that shows all rooms for the day. Some door displays allow a free room to be booked on the spot for a short time or a booking to be confirmed. Unconfirmed bookings can then be released automatically.
Operators should decide which details are visible: the title of a meeting can be confidential, for example for staff appraisals. Often the time and “occupied” are enough, or the organiser hides the title. The display needs read access to the room's calendar, not to employees' calendars. If the connection fails, it should be clear that the display is not up to date.
