Cinema foyer

In a cinema foyer, screens show the programme, showtimes, trailers and what the concession stand offers.

They hang above the box office, at the concession stand and along the way to the auditoriums. Self-order kiosks and displays at auditorium entrances often complete the set-up.

Programme displays are fed from the ticketing system and show which film is playing in which auditorium and whether seats are still available. Above the concession stand, menu boards show snacks and drinks. Trailers and poster artwork draw attention to upcoming films. At auditorium entrances, a screen shows the film, start time and age rating.

People of all ages wait in the foyer. With trailers and artwork, operators should keep age ratings in mind, as children are watching too. Foyers are often dimly lit, and screens that are too bright cause glare. For the concession stand, the same rules on prices and allergens apply as in catering. Programme data must update automatically so that cancelled screenings do not appear.
