Drive-thru display

A drive-thru display is a screen on the drive-through lane of a quick-service restaurant, where guests see the menu from their vehicle and check their order.

There is usually a pre-sell board before the ordering point, the actual menu board and an order confirmation display.

While the driver waits, the pre-sell board shows offers so that decisions are made faster. At the ordering point, the menu and prices appear, often varying by time of day. The confirmation display lists what staff have taken down, so that mistakes are noticed before payment. Content comes from the till system so that prices and sold-out items are correct.

The devices stand outdoors and must withstand sun, rain, cold and heat. This calls for high brightness, a suitable protection rating and temperature control inside the housing. Text must be readable from the car within a few seconds. Glare for drivers and light spilling towards neighbours should be considered at the planning stage.
