Mirror display

A mirror display is a screen behind semi-transparent mirror glass that looks like an ordinary mirror as long as it is dark.

Bright content shines through the glass. Dark areas of the picture remain mirror.

Mirror displays are used where a mirror hangs anyway and people spend a short time: in fitting rooms, washrooms, hotel bathrooms, lifts or hairdressing salons. They show notices, offers or advertising while keeping the mirror usable. A sensor is often built in that only starts the content when someone stands in front of it.

The mirror glass absorbs a large share of the light, so the screen behind it needs high brightness. Content works best with a black background and bright, large elements; full-screen videos cover the mirror. If a camera is built into the mirror, particular restraint is called for: in fitting rooms and washrooms, the protection of privacy is especially high. Operators should clarify exactly which sensors are installed and what data they process.
