Fitting room

In the fitting room of a fashion store, screens or digital mirrors can show customers information about the items they are trying on and let them request help.

This is also called a smart fitting room. The technology is usually built into the mirror or the wall.

If the system recognises the items brought in, for example via radio tags, it shows sizes, colours, availability and matching combinations. The customer can request another size without leaving the cubicle; staff receive a message. Outside the cubicles, screens show which ones are free.

Cameras have no place in fitting rooms: protection of privacy and data protection rules effectively exclude them. Functions should work without a camera and make this clear. Operation must be simple, as customers are busy trying things on. Advertising should be restrained; the focus is on service for the customer.
