Passenger information

Passenger information covers all details that help travellers on public transport, such as timetables, departure times, platform or stop changes, delays, cancellations and diversions.

When these details are shown on displays and updated continuously, this is called real-time passenger information.

Passenger information displays are found at stops, on platforms, in stations and inside vehicles. They are fed by the transport operators' operations control systems and show when a vehicle will actually arrive, not only when it is scheduled to. In the event of disruption, they inform passengers about replacement services or alternative connections.

For operators of screen networks outside transport, passing the data on is what matters most: transport companies and associations increasingly provide timetable and real-time data as open data that can be shown on their own screens. The terms of use of the data source apply. A private screen should not look like an official display if it is not reliably up to date.
