Glossary A–ZLetter P
Petrol station advertising
Petrol station advertising refers to screens at petrol stations, on pumps, in the shop and on the forecourt that reach customers while they refuel and pay.
Many petrol stations belong to networks whose advertising time is sold centrally.
At the pump, the customer stands for a few minutes and often looks at the screen in front of them. It shows offers from the shop, notices about the car wash and coffee, and advertising from brands. In the shop, screens above the till show offers and promotions. On the forecourt, totems inform about prices and services.
The screen on the pump stands outdoors and in an area with fuel vapours; technology and installation must be suitable for this. Strict advertising bans apply to tobacco, and alcohol advertising should be restrained with drivers in mind. If a screen can be seen from the road, road traffic and building law may apply. Music with sound must be licensed.
