Receiving card
A receiving card is the control board in each cabinet of an LED wall that accepts the image data from the sending card and drives the light-emitting diodes in its area.
It sits in the housing behind the modules. Each card is responsible for a fixed section of the overall picture.
The receiving card converts the incoming data into the signals that make the individual modules light up. It often also stores the calibration values that match the brightness and colour of each module, along with settings for greyscale and refresh rate. It passes the data on to the next cabinet through a network cable, so that many cabinets hang in one chain.
Sending and receiving cards usually come from the same system and cannot be swapped with those of other systems. Operators should therefore keep spare cards that match the system in use and back up the configuration files, because without them a new cabinet shows its part of the picture in the wrong place. Many systems allow a second data path that takes over if a cable or a card fails.
