Taxi display

A taxi display is a screen in or on a taxi that shows information and advertising to passengers or passers-by.

Inside, it is usually mounted on the back of the front seats; outside, as a unit on the roof.

In the vehicle, the passenger sees news, weather, city tips and advertising during the journey, often also the fare or payment options. Because the vehicle knows its position, advertising can be tied to districts or times of day. Content is loaded over mobile data and cached.

Inside a vehicle there are vibrations, heat and fluctuating voltage. The passenger must be able to turn the screen down or off, and operating it must not distract the driver. If passenger data is processed, data protection must be checked. Which displays are permitted on and in the vehicle is governed by road traffic and vehicle registration law and by local rules; this should be clarified with the responsible authorities beforehand.
