Consumer electronics store

In a consumer electronics store, screens are both merchandise and advertising media: televisions and monitors are displayed and switched on, and the store's own screens inform about offers and services.

Typical are long walls of televisions, screens above departments and product search terminals.

The TV wall shows demonstration content intended to show picture quality, often on all devices at once. The store's own screens show weekly offers, finance offers, repair and installation services and directions. On shelves, electronic shelf labels complete the picture.

Televisions and monitors displayed for sale must show their energy label; the obligation applies to the goods, not to the screens the store uses for its own content. Anyone advertising finance offers must provide the mandatory details that apply to credit advertising. Many devices running at once produce heat and use electricity, so switching them off outside opening hours pays off. Demonstration content should be refreshed regularly so that the same images do not run for months.
