Hospitality TV

A hospitality TV is a television set built for use in hotels, hospitals, care homes and similar establishments.

It looks like a living-room television but can be set up centrally and locked against changes. These functions are often grouped under the term “hotel mode”.

In hotel mode, the establishment determines which channel and volume the set starts with, which menus guests see and which settings are locked. A welcome page or information about the establishment can be shown when the set is switched on. The channel list and settings are created once and transferred to all sets, by USB stick, over the network or through remote management. Many sets also receive programmes over the in-house network.

A hospitality TV is designed for operation for a few hours a day, not necessarily for continuous use like a professional display. It is therefore only of limited use as a display in the lobby. Operators should clarify how long the sets will receive software updates, whether settings can be changed remotely and how guests can show their own content from their phones without leaving data on the set.
