Hotel room TV

A hotel room TV is the television in a guest room that offers hotel information, a welcome screen and often further services as well as TV channels.

These are usually devices designed for use in hotels and managed centrally.

When switched on, a start page appears with a welcome, hotel information, the room service menu, weather and a channel guide. Some systems show the guest's name from the booking system, allow casting from the guest's own phone or show the bill. Channels often arrive over the in-house network.

Room TVs are configured centrally so that guests cannot change menus and no accounts or connections remain after departure. After check-out, personal data and paired phones must be deleted. Anyone redistributing television channels to guest rooms generally needs the rights to do so; the collecting societies can provide information. A change of system should cover the televisions in all rooms at the same time.
