Proof of play
The proof of play shows that an advert or piece of content actually ran on a screen.
The player reports every play back to the management system, with device, content and time, and for booked advertising also with the duration that was played. These reports form the basis of the report for the advertiser: which creative was visible how often, when and where. If a player had no connection, it sends the reports on as soon as it can be reached again.
The proof of play is the basis for billing and therefore needs more care than a mere operating log: it must not be altered afterwards and should be kept complete. It shows that the content was played, not that the screen was switched on or that anyone looked at it. Previews in the management system and filler content do not belong in the proof as billable plays.
