Glossary A–ZLetter V
Venue partner
A venue partner provides a network operator with the location for one or more screens, such as a shop, a medical practice, a petrol station or a gym.
In return it usually receives a share of revenue, a rent or airtime of its own. The device and its operation normally remain the responsibility of the network operator.
A baker might, for example, have a screen installed in the sales area that shows regional advertising and the bakery's own offers. The network operator supplies the device and content, while the baker provides power and the network connection and may exclude certain sectors. The contract covers term, operating hours, access for maintenance and remuneration.
Operators should set clear rules for everyday operation: who switches the screen on, whom the site calls in the event of a fault and what happens if the premises are refurbished or closed. The site's opening hours limit the time that can be sold. A venue partner has a legitimate interest in nothing being shown that its customers would dislike; this belongs in the criteria for creative review.
