Glossary A–ZLetter D
Dynamic content
Dynamic content is content that is assembled from current data at the moment of display rather than existing as a finished file.
Its counterpart is static content, such as a photo or video that always looks the same.
Typical examples are the time, weather, waiting times, daily dishes, room bookings, departure times or stock levels. Technically, dynamic content usually consists of a template with placeholders and a data source that fills them. The design thus stays consistent while the values change continuously, without anyone uploading a new file.
Dynamic content saves maintenance effort but shifts it to data quality. A typo in the source appears on every screen at once. Operators should define what is shown when data is missing, too long or breaks the template; a long product name can make a line overflow. They should also check whether the player can render the content without a connection, for example using the last known values.
