Fresh food counter

A fresh food counter is the staffed counter in grocery retail for meat, cold cuts, cheese, fish or baked goods, where staff weigh and wrap the goods.

Screens above or behind it show offers, prices, origin and preparation tips.

A screen above the cheese counter can show the day's varieties with price and origin, and one at the meat counter barbecue offers or recipes. If products are maintained in the merchandise management system, prices reach the screen automatically. Waiting customers have time, so somewhat longer content also works here.

For loose goods sold by weight, the price per unit of quantity must be stated, for example per kilogram. If a screen shows prices, they must match the price at the scale. Allergen information must also be available for loose goods; whether the screen is suitable for this should be clarified. Near food, devices must be easy to clean.
