Glossary A–ZLetter S

Sports club

In a sports club, screens show members, guests and spectators fixtures, results, training times, club news and sponsors.

They hang in the clubhouse, at the entrance to the hall, beside the pitch or in the club's bar.

On match day, the screen shows line-ups, the score and upcoming dates; during the week, training times, hall bookings, the general meeting and social events. Sponsors appear in rotation and are thus visibly acknowledged. Results can be taken from association portals if an interface exists for this.

Clubs usually maintain screens through volunteers. Simple operation, a few templates and fixed responsibilities therefore matter more than many features. Photos of members, especially children and young people, should only go on screen with consent. Music with sound must be licensed. What sponsors receive in return for being displayed should be agreed in writing. Switching off when the club is closed saves electricity. Results and dates should be updated promptly after match day.
