Glossary A–ZLetter B
Business intelligence report
A business intelligence report is a prepared analysis of company data from a BI tool, with tables, charts and key figures that are recalculated regularly from the source data.
BI stands for business intelligence, the systematic analysis of business data.
On screens, such reports appear in offices, warehouses or sales departments, for example daily revenue, open orders or delivery rate. The report is either embedded as a web page or exported as an image at fixed intervals. A screen needs its own view: a few large figures instead of the detailed working view used at a desk.
For the display, the screen must be allowed to access the report. Operators should clarify which account is used, because a personal employee account on a publicly visible device is a security risk. They should also consider who stands in front of the screen: figures not meant for everyone do not belong in a corridor. Where reports show the performance of individual employees, the works council has to be involved.
