Screens on mobile data load large files at night and show their usage
Where there is no cable and no Wi-Fi, the player runs on a SIM card. Two settings keep data usage in check.
Kapaso solution: AIO Hub is made by the publisher of this magazine.

Not every screen stands where a network cable runs. The stand in a shopping centre, the totem in a car park or the screen in the window of a rented shop often runs on a SIM card. Then every megabyte counts, and a video of a few hundred megabytes can use up a small monthly allowance.
AIO Hub, the digital signage software made by Kapaso, offers two aids for this. Large files can be set so that a device downloads them only at night. And the management software shows how much data each device has used. That makes it obvious when a player is downloading more than expected, before the mobile contract is throttled.
Then there is the polling interval: how often a device asks for changes is set per device. A screen on mobile data need not ask as often as one on a cable.
Playing images and videos that have already been downloaded uses no data, because the player plays them from its own storage. Traffic arises when polling, when downloading new content, and with anything that comes live from the network, such as web pages.
The manufacturer offers a player with a built-in mobile module. The operator supplies the contract and the SIM card.
