Glossary A–ZLetter C

Corporate lobby

A corporate lobby is a company's reception area, where screens welcome visitors, help them find their way and give a first impression of the business.

Typical are a large screen or a video wall behind reception and totems for directions. Visitor sign-in terminals are often added.

The screens show welcome messages for expected guests, routes to meeting rooms, company news, products, awards and information for visitors such as Wi-Fi access or safety rules. The content follows the company's corporate design and is often maintained by communications or marketing.

Suppliers, applicants and competitors also see the lobby. Internal figures, project names or customer names should therefore only appear on screen after approval. A welcome by name should be agreed with the guest. Less is more: a reception screen that shows too much gets overlooked. Once a visit is over, the welcome must disappear automatically.
