Rollout
A rollout is the planned introduction of devices, software or a new software version across many sites or devices.
It runs from preparation through installation to acceptance.
In a screen network, a rollout covers site surveys, network, power and mounting, initial setup of the players, content, responsibilities and training. A pilot has proved its worth: first one or two sites, then the full estate. Updates are also distributed in stages, first to test devices, then to a small group and only then to all devices.
Most problems show up on site, not at the desk: different networks, missing network sockets, different display models. A checklist per site, a naming scheme and a prepared device list save trips. For updates, the rule is: not all devices at once, know the way back, and check that the test devices run properly before distributing to everyone. A rollout does not end with mounting but with the handover to those who take over day-to-day operation.
